In this issue of Cancer Cell, Zhang et al. demonstrate that CD8⁺ TILs reprogram under hypoxic and hypoglycemic conditions, regaining effector function by engaging fatty acid catabolism, which is promoted by fenofibrate and synergistic with immune checkpoint blockade therapy.
