Is it possible to encourage hope in non-advanced cancer patients? We must try

To our knowledge, few studies have been conducted so far with the intent to recognize the oncologist's central role in assessing needs and encouraging the hope of their patients, in daily clinical practices. The purpose of this study was to identify and explore the relationship among hope, physical and emotional symptoms, unmet needs and spirituality/religiosity, in patients on oncologic treatments to target early referrals to interventions of healing, while we care and/or cure . Oncologists should consider expanding theirrole and involve themselves more in the holistic aspects of cancer care. It is possible to help cancer patients to cope with feelings of isolation and hopelessness.
