La radiothérapie, avec ou sans chimiothérapie ou thérapie ciblée, nécessite une préparation du malade rigoureuse, parfois complexe, souvent chronophage, mais indispensable pour garantir au malade de réduire autant que possible les risques d'intolérance aiguë et les complications tardives. Elles s'appliquent quelle que soit la localisation dans la sphère maxillo-faciale avec quelques adaptations anatomiques. L'acquisition des volumes d'intérêts, tumoraux ou tissus sains, obéit aux mêmes règles. La radiothérapie avec modulation d'intensité et les principes qui régissent son utilisation sont devenus des standards pour cette localisation tumorale. Les règles de surveillance des patients en cours de traitement sont identiques.The treatment of head and neck carcinoma by radiotherapy with or without chemotherapy or targeted agents requires a rigorous preparation, sometimes complex, frequently time consuming to guaranty to the patient to reduce as much as possible acute toxicity as well as late complications. These rules are valuable whatever the location of the primary with some anatomic variations. Intensity modulated radiotherapy and its rules are currently the standard of care for this disease. The follow-up of the patients during their treatment is similar.
