[Comment] Patients, data, and progress in cancer care

The Lancet Oncology's Commission, Future Cancer Research Priorities in the USA,1 is an extension of the Cancer Moonshot's Blue Ribbon Panel report2 and provides a valuable blueprint for a 21st century cancer research strategy. As an active participant in Cancer Moonshot activities, the US Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) applauds the Commission's commitment to patient involvement in prioritising research questions and specifying outcomes. For example, the Commission describes the importance of research into eliminating disparities in cancer treatment and outcomes, pharmacological and non-pharmacological management of cancer symptoms, palliative care, and care delivery.
