As the global burden of cancer continues to rise, disparities in cancer care remain ubiquitous. Stark inequalities in prevention, screening, treatment, and outcomes exist not only between high and low-income nations, but also between population subgroups within countries. In increasingly multiethnic communities, differences in the way cancer is perceived, addressed, and treated might be partly due to variation in underlying cultural influences. What can be done to reduce the health care gap?
