[Correspondence] Predictive gene-expression score for follicular lymphona

We read with great interest the study by Sarah Huet and colleagues1 that described a gene-expression signature for predicting outcome on the basis of diagnostic biopsy samples in patients with follicular lymphoma. Although many studies have reported predictive or prognostic gene signatures across various tumour types, the inability to develop robust and clinically useful signatures remains a challenge. Among various biological and technical issues, intratumour heterogeneity, which can be present in haematological and solid tumours, combined with sampling bias might explain the difficulties in the validation of such signatures.
